The Ameritek Alkaline RO system adds one critical stage that standard 5-stage RO systems omit: an inline alkaline mineral cartridge that re-introduces calcium, magnesium, and trace minerals after the membrane. 5 Micron Sediment Filter
Captures particulates, dirt, rust, and debris before they reach the carbon and membrane stages. Protects downstream filters from premature clogging and is the most frequently replaced stage in most systems.
Granular Activated Carbon (GAC)
GAC removes chlorine, chloramines, and organic compounds from the incoming supply. The primary function is protecting the RO membrane — chlorine rapidly degrades TFC membrane material, and GAC removal upstream significantly extends membrane service life.
Carbon Block Filter
A compressed carbon block provides a final layer of chlorine and chloramine reduction plus 5–10 micron mechanical filtration before the membrane. The tighter structure offers more thorough contact between water and carbon compared to GAC, providing a cleaner membrane feed.
Thin Film Composite (TFC) RO Membrane
The core of the system. The TFC membrane forces water through pores so fine they block dissolved contaminants at the molecular level — rejecting up to 99% of TDS, heavy metals, nitrates, fluoride, arsenic, and most bacteria and viruses. Permeate water is stored in the tank; reject water flushes to drain.
Inline GAC Post-Filter
After purified water sits in the pressurized storage tank, this inline GAC cartridge polishes out any residual taste or odor picked up during storage. Ensures clean, fresh-tasting water at every pour regardless of how long water sat in the tank.
Inline Alkaline Mineral Cartridge
What sets the Ameritek apart from a standard RO system. Pure RO water is slightly acidic and stripped of naturally occurring minerals. This inline mineral cartridge re-introduces calcium, magnesium, and trace minerals into the purified water — raising the pH toward neutral or slightly alkaline, enhancing taste, and restoring mineral content that many users prefer.
💡 Which kit to buy: Replace pre- and post-filters (Stages 1–3, 5–6) every 6–12 months. Replace the membrane (Stage 4) every 2–3 years, or when TDS rejection drops below 85% as measured with a TDS meter. If you're due for both, the 6-stage kit is the better value. When to Replace Each Stage
Sediment Pre-Filter
Replace more frequently in high-sediment water. A clogged sediment filter reduces flow and forces the carbon stages to work harder.
GAC Pre-Filter
Critical for membrane protection. Chlorine breakthrough from an exhausted GAC filter is the leading cause of early membrane failure.
Carbon Block Pre-Filter
Replace on the same schedule as GAC. Together these two stages are the membrane's primary defense against oxidative damage.
TFC RO Membrane
Monitor with a TDS meter. Replace when rejection drops below 85% of source water TDS. Included in the 6-Stage kit only.
