INSTALLATION & USE

How to Install This Filter Cartridge

  1. Shut off water supply and relieve pressure by opening a downstream faucet
  2. Unscrew filter housing using a housing wrench, remove old cartridge, and clean sump with mild soap solution
  3. Insert new KDF-55/GAC cartridge into housing, ensuring it seats properly on the center post
  4. Lubricate o-ring with food-grade silicone and hand-tighten housing until snug
  5. Turn water supply back on slowly, check for leaks, then flush filter for 5 minutes before use
COMPATIBILITY

Works With Standard 20" Housings

This cartridge fits any standard 20-inch filter housing with 2.5-inch diameter capacity, including those designed for Intelifil IF-SM-KDF020 filters. The dual-media design makes it ideal for well water applications where iron bacteria, chlorine, and heavy metals like lead, mercury, arsenic, and copper are present. KDF-55 media also provides scale control and inhibits bacterial growth, even in warm water conditions. Use in whole house systems or point-of-entry applications where flow rates stay at or below 1 GPM for optimal contact time.

🔧 Pro tip: KDF media works through redox reactions that require adequate contact time. If you notice reduced performance in high-flow applications, consider adding a second housing in series or upgrading to a larger diameter system to keep flow rates under 1 GPM per cartridge.
