This IPW Industries string wound sediment cartridge is designed for standard 10" × 4.5" whole house filter housings and is a direct replacement for models 84637, WPX5BB97P, PC10, 355214-45, 355215-45, and WP10BB97P. Use the 5 micron option for general whole house sediment filtration as a first stage before carbon or specialty filters. Select the 1 micron version for finer particulate removal or as a polishing stage after coarser sediment filters. The string wound construction provides depth filtration with higher dirt-holding capacity than surface filters, making it ideal for well water, municipal water with high sediment, or any application requiring reliable particulate removal before RO systems, water softeners, or UV disinfection.

💧 Pro tip: String wound filters load from the outside in, which means they handle surges and high sediment loads better than pleated cartridges. Replace every 3-6 months depending on sediment levels, or sooner if you notice pressure drop across the housing.
