The Omnipure E5485 is designed for point-of-use installation in residential and light commercial applications where scale control is needed. It works well as a pre-filter for reverse osmosis systems, inline with coffee and espresso machines, or installed before ice makers and water heaters. The phosphate media sequesters calcium and magnesium ions, preventing them from precipitating as hard scale on heating elements and plumbing surfaces. This filter does not remove hardness from water but prevents it from forming deposits. It's compatible with standard 2.5" inline housings that accept quick-change cartridges, and replacement is straightforward with the twist-off head design.
