Installing Your Catalytic Carbon Filter

  1. Turn off water supply and relieve pressure from your 20" Big Blue housing by opening a downstream faucet

  3. Insert the Watts WCB20FF-CHLORA filter into the housing, ensuring it seats properly on the center post
  4. Lubricate the o-ring with silicone grease, hand-tighten the sump, and slowly turn water back on to check for leaks
  5. Flush filter for 5 minutes at low flow to remove any carbon fines before normal use
COMPATIBILITY

Housing Requirements

The WCB20FF-CHLORA fits all standard 20" x 4.5" Big Blue filter housings, including Watts, Pentek, Hydronix, and other industry-standard brands. This filter is designed for whole-house point-of-entry systems where chloramine removal is required, particularly in municipal water systems that have switched from chlorine to chloramine disinfection. The 1 micron nominal filtration also provides sediment and particulate reduction alongside chemical contaminant removal.

🔧 Pro Tip: Chloramine reduction rates drop significantly at higher flow rates. If you have high household demand, consider installing two filters in parallel to maintain 2 GPM per filter and maximize your 24,000 gallon capacity per cartridge.
