Where This Filter Works
This IPW Industries cartridge is a direct-fit compatible replacement for the Watts Intelifil IF-SM-NIT010 and installs in any standard 10-inch filter housing rated for 2.5-inch diameter cartridges. It's designed primarily for rural and agricultural areas where nitrate levels from fertilizer runoff or septic leaching exceed the EPA limit of 10 mg/L. The strong anion resin selectively targets nitrate ions, though competing anions like sulfate will reduce total capacity and should be factored into replacement intervals. Best used as a dedicated nitrate removal stage in whole-house systems or as RO pretreatment where nitrate fouling is a concern. Monitor influent and effluent levels regularly with test strips or lab analysis to confirm breakthrough has not occurred.
